Question that I'm already sure I'm going to regret asking:

Is someone actually expecting us to wear these uniforms?  They're not exactly GQ, and the fact that one seems to keep magically appearing in my closet when I try to toss it out is starting to scream cult dynamic.  I'm not gonna wake up sewn into one next week, am I?

Saving OUR world is our wheelhouse. We're out of our element here. Who knows what we might find out there. Or if the guys we're fighting for are even on the side we want to be on.

I didn't think a potential extinction event was the place for moralizing, but if you'd like them to fill out an application before we save their civilization, I can put something together.

I'm not saying we shouldn't help them.

What I'm saying is that we should be careful. And alert.

They're our ticket home.

[ this speech indicates participation is voluntary, but that there's no real alternate option if you ... want to go home. and do anything besides sit around. nat's really just digging into "is it really free will if you don't have a good alternative" ]

They set compelling terms.

Maybe. But they're only compelling if they're telling the truth.

But we can be smart about it. We can stay alert.

I'm not trying to cause waves. And if this place shapes up to be everything it claims to be? I'll be the first to admit I had them pegged wrong.
