how to play.
1.  Drop a comment with one or more of your muses.  It can be empty if you want me to make a scenario, or you can toss one at me.  If you want to just give me a prompt (a word, song, lyric, picture, phrase, anything), I can riff off that too.
2.  In the subject line, you can specify any of my muses you might want to play with, or you can ask me to pick someone.  No muses are off-limits except for those that have no icon uploaded on the list.  If you leave it to me, it is likely that I will give you someone I haven't tried yet, haven't tried much, or haven't played in a long while.
3.  just rp with me.  if something jives really well, maybe we can continue it in another one of these later, sort of like a super casual verse.  if it doesn't, it doesn't.

[ in other circumstances, there were a million verbal ripostes she would have all lined up for that. but the shock on her face is real, though it's confined to the widening of her eyes, and the slight trembling of her jaw. the gun lowers, albeit slowly. ]

... Bruce?

[cowls]

You look like you've seen a ghost. [ it's a bad joke. he should know it's not fair to tease her like this, but he does anyway. as the gun lowers, he steps closer to her so that she can get a better look. ] I'm sure you understand why I couldn't call ahead.

[purrfectheist]

[ there's a flash of indignant anger that runs through her at his flippant nature, but at the same time, it's so decidedly bruce that it manages to erase in a flash any and all doubts she might harbor over whether it's actually him or some kind of trick. she searches for her words, and finally manages to vocalize a retort. ]

I thought it was only cats who had nine lives. [ still, she's drawn forward a couple steps to meet him, her free hand sliding to his chest as if test whether he's really intact under there. ] I should have guessed after the first time: you're just too stubborn to die.

[cowls]

[ he has to smile at that remark, though it's a muted one. he reaches up to press a hand to the side of her head, palm cupping her cheek some in a gesture of reassurance that it's really him, and simultaneously something for himself, as well. testing waters, in some capacity, and finally getting to brush the fringes of the life he'd left behind when he 'died.' ]

I had a cat show me some tricks recently. I was hoping maybe we could exchange a few more.

[ she tries really really hard to ignore the pleased sensation in her stomach at his touch. it's all a little too sentimental to be comfortable, but she's allowed to be glad he isn't dead, isn't she?

for her own reasons, just as much as for his sake.

he'd been a good kisser, after all.

she lets out an amused hum, leaning a bit closer as her eyes rake his face, but then her gaze flits back up to his, and she cocks her head to one side, as she asks flatly: ]

You're not going to tell me how you pulled this off, are you?

[cowls]

Not a chance. [ he says it with a little smile, because he can't help it. he likes knowing he can stay a step ahead of her. not out of any paranoia, but rather out of his own amusement. ] Can you live with that?

[purrfectheist]

Well... [ she draws out the word, running a hand down his lapel and yanking it straight as she pretends to consider ] You know what they say about curiosity and cats.

[cowls]

That it's better they avoid it. [ because he doesn't want to be left catless ok omg. ]

[purrfectheist]

I haven't always been the best at avoiding things that aren't good for me. [ but it's a tease, and the smile she's fighting lights up her eyes at least ] Something we have in common, I think.

[cowls]

Seems to me there's a lot of that going around. [ that gives his lips a smaller, more genuine curve of a smile. ]

[purrfectheist]

[ she studies that maddening little smile of his with a well-humored 'hmph'. ] It has its perks.

[cowls]

[ he sobers up some at that, done being all snarky and smug, and gives her a more serious look. ] I'm sorry. If there had been another way to do what needed to be done, I wouldn't have put you through this.

[purrfectheist]

[ oh my god, is he actually breaking out the mushy feelings part of the evening.

no sir.

she gives a not-entirely-convincing eyeroll at his implication that she 'went through so much' and all but cuts him off... by suddenly kissing him. before he can, you know, make her admit to any of that.

it's not a particularly long lasting kiss, but it's long enough to get the message across, and maybe just lingers just a wee bit more than she'd planned for, before she draws back to say in a playfully annoyed tone: ]

Shut up, Mr. Wayne.

[cowls]

[ LOOK HE CAN'T HELP IT thinking of dead love interests sends him to rachel places and though he's been thankfully pulled out of that toxic pit of feels by now it's still a lesson. putting someone through that and then for it to not even be true, that's maybe worse than truly losing someone because it means it was for nothing. he wants her to know that it wasn't for nothing. ]

I can see your methods haven't changed all that much since my retirement. [ there's a hint of approval in that observation. and it's intended to be 50% less like calling her a whore than it sounds. esp since she ... was one ... ]

I do like to stick with what works.

[cowls]

I can see that. [ he looks around to indicate her apartment. ] This is what you've been doing with your clean slate?

[purrfectheist]

[ the statement rankles a bit, not out of pure pride but because the reasons she's been staying in gotham are singularly linked to one thing... and she doesn't want him knowing that.

she moves beyond him, shrugging nonchalantly, as she drops her purse on the counter and places her gun inside of it. ]

Call it a temporary arrangement. I wanted to make sure the technology hadn't been a sham, after all, and Gotham police busting down my door isn't anything I can't handle. [ she turns to fix him with a smile, all saccharine, now that she's gotten the conversation back under her control ] Better the devil you know, Bruce.
