[Rocket hadn't wanted to contribute to anything following "The Snap" or whatever they wanted to call it. The only person he knew here was Thor and even that wasn't really enough to make him willing to start glad-handing and working towards facing Thanos again, because, to him, it was pointless. The bastard won.

But he was eventually convinced and when Rocket gains any kind of conviction for something, he puts his heart and soul into it. The goal was to find a place that had enough spare parts to work into a feasible weapon and bring it back to Wakanda. Rocket had volunteered because he knew exactly what they were looking for and he could fly Quill's ship.

Stark had come along, which wasn't how Rocket imagined this in his head. He expected to be alone to think and start sussing out what he wanted from this... and now he had a straggler he's never spoken to despite knowing he came back with Nebula, despite knowing he had to have been there when Quill and the others died.

Because that's just his luck, isn't it? Alone on a ship, hunting for a ship graveyard with a guy who last saw his friends alive, as they try desperately to figure out what to do next. He was a decent captain to Thor, but he can't dredge up the fucks to give about Stark. It's hard to be a captain when you got no crew.]
